The PGA TOUR is back in Florida for 2020 and the last stop on the Florida Swing part of the season-long FedEx Cup race, the Valspar Championship, is contested at the 7,340 yards, par 71 Copperhead Course at Innisbrook Golf & Spa Resort in Palm Harbor on the Gulf Coast. Valspar is once again pleased to make the Copperhead Course a dynamic landscape of color and conviviality. New for this year are six oversized chameleon structures, painted by local St. Petersburg artist 57 Heaven Airbrush scattered around the course. The Valspar BLOCK PARTY behind the 18th hole features two tiny homes and the Valspar Color Cabana. While enjoying free popsicles, patrons can admire the Valspar Colors of the Year(two of which, Canyon Earth and Whisper Mint, will be featured on their exteriors. Also around the 18th green, there will be features including the Northwestern Mutual Kids Zone, the Merchandise Fan Shop, a display of Lexus vehicles and the Geico
Expo.
Chameleon Cove, another popular Valspar activation area, is a beach-side viewing area with concessions including the Captain Morgan Rum Bar at the third hole. Valspar truly makes Innisbrook Resort come alive with color.
A new ticket option is the Copperhead Crawl, a five-stop tour of adult beverage locations that can be accessed through a wrist band that can be specially purchased at the 1st tee information booth. The Valspar Championship Signature Drink, the Copperbery, is available at the Publix Chill Louge between the 8th & 9th holes; Then it is on to the Michelob ULTRA CLUB to the left of the 9th green; the Horse Soldier Whiskey Lounge is adjacent to the action at the 10th green(with product from St. Petersburg’ American Freedom Distillery); To the left of the 13th green you can fly high with an Avion Margarita on their deck; The Ketel One Experience will feature Ketel Botanical Peach and Orange Blossom Spritz. All of these locations are open to the public and feature great viewing of critical shots.
The Valspar Championship is operated by a not-for-profit organization, Copperhead Charities, Inc. a volunteer group of Tampa Bay area community leaders known as the Copperheads. The members have the dual ambition of raising money for charity and providing golf fans with the best in PGA TOUR competition. The Copperheads have a 43-year history of aiding Tampa Bay area charities through professional golf. The organization’s history of success is shown by more than $43 million raised for charity since 1977. The event generates an estimated $50 million economic impact annually. Paul Casey Going for #3
For his second year in a row, Englishman Paul Casey won the Valspar Championship and in 2020 hopes to add a third title, a feat not accomplished on the PGA TOUR since 2011, on a course that just fits his game. A one-shot winner in 2018 and 2019, Casey will be going against a field that includes the last three individuals to win the U.S. Open- Gary Woodland, Brooks Koepka and Dustin Johnson, plus 2017 PGA Championship winner Justin Thomas. The full field will kick off the contest March 16th through the 20th.
