PGA Tour’s Florida Swing Continues with Arnold Palmer Invitational

The Arnold Palmer Invitational Golf Tournament is scheduled to tee off March 2nd at The Bay Hill Club & Lodge near Orlando, Florida. This highly esteemed PGA Tour event originated in 1966 with the Florida Citrus Open Invitational held at Rio Pinar Country Club. In 1979 the tournament moved to the Bay Hill Course and was renamed after the host Arnold Palmer.

This year’s tournament features a wealth of World Ranked players from all over the globe. Of the top 50, 44 are scheduled to play in the Arnold Palmer Invitational presented by Mastercard.. Representing countries such as Spain, Northern Ireland, Norway and South Korea, these players include John Rahm, Scottie Scheffler, Rory McIlroy, Patrick Cantlay, Xander Schauffele, Will Zalatoris, Max Homa and Justin Thomas. The event also boasts five past champions – Scheffler, Tyrell Hatton, McIlroy and Jason Day (2016) and Francesco Molinari (2019) competing on Bay Hill. In total there will be 20 Major Championship winners contesting for the weekend’s top prize.

PGA Commissioner, Jay Monahan, made the API one of the newly elevated events, this desgination increased the purse to $20 million dollars with the winners share a cool $3.6 million and the coveted red cardigan sweater.
